Tons o’ fun!

Lots going on at BBAC these days!

  • Join us Saturday, March 26, for the What Women Want Expo at the Bangor Civic Center. We’ll be there from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and we’re going to give away a one-year membership. More than 80 vendors will be there, showing off their wares and services. It’s going to be a great time.
  • Join us on April 9 and 10 as we launch new workouts in all of our fantastic group ex programs: BodyPump, BodyCombat, BodyVive, BodyFlow and Zumba. Sign up sheets will be available at the front counter. We’ll be offering form techniques before each class so you can get the most out of your workout, while still having fun.
  • Group training continues to explode! Wendy is starting up another Body Transformation group and Sean’s sports conditioning for kids (aged 10 to 13) is growing. Group training is an awesome way to take your fitness to the next level — you get more time in the gym with a trainer at a lower cost than personal training. Ask for more details!
  • You wanted more Zumba and you got it …. join us at 10:30 a.m. Sundays for a hip-shakin’ good time that will have you burning up to 500 calories an hour. Woohoo!

Group training lands at BBAC!

Check out our new, slightly tweaked, group exercise schedule, which starts on Feb. 7. We’re officially introducing small group training to our offerings. Small group training, one of the hottest trends across the country, offers the best of personal training and group ex training with a focused approach to transforming your body and fitness. See Wendy for more details. We’re looking to kick off an afternoon session soon.

We’re also officially offering a BodyVive/BodyFlow hybrid class, which will burn calories and tone and lengthen/strengthen your muscles. First, we’ll warm the body with low-impact/high-energy cardio, and then we’ll hit high points of BodyFlow, working every muscle through its range of motion in a relaxing, fun format.

Small group training (groups of 3-6 people) is the one of the newest, best new trends in fitness across the country, bringing the best of personal training to everyone at a lower price, but with the extra motivation of other group members. Big week ahead — are you ready?

Of course you’re ready to help us kick off Resolution: Revolution.

Resolution: Revolution! Jan 10-13

Ready to make that New Year’s Resolution a reality and take your fitness to new heights? Join us the week of January 10, 2011, as we bring you operation Resolution: Revolution, a week-long quarterly Les MillsĀ  launch party. We’ll be debuting the latest BodyPump, BodyCombat, BodyVive and BodyFlow workouts. Sign-up sheets are at the gym — bring a friend to one of the launches and win a chance for a BBAC sweatshirt!

Monday, Jan. 10, 6:30 p.m.: Feel the love …. BodyFlow 51 will take your core strength and flexibility to new levels with the perfect soundtrack to kick off 2011. We predict you’ll love it — we sure do!

Tuesday, Jan 11, 6:15 p.m.: Feel the heat BodyCombat 46 goes old-school with some intense new “warrior conditioning” routines that will bring your cardio conditioning to new levels.

Wednesday, Jan. 12, 5:15 p.m.: Feel the function BodyVive 17 features a fun, energetic cardio section that will make you smile, and you’ll get a little Dirrty with even more functional moves during the strength portion of the class, to help tone your core and build overall strength and stability.

Thursday, Jan 13, 5:15 p.m.: Feel the intensity …. BodyPump 76 is our favorite recent Pump release because of its great tunes and some of its, ahem, interesting (tough?) layering of exercises, which are designed to work those muscles in new ways. We predict you’ll love not only the workout, but the results.

Special class Friday, Dec. 24

Let’s make sure the holidays at Bangor Humane Society are jolly! Come on down to BBAC on Friday, Dec. 24 at 9 a.m. for a special Zumba class. Bring along some canned dog or cat food, washable blankets, paper towels, pet toys and/or soft dog treats, and warm your heart not only with a workout but with the knowledge you’re helping a local organization.

It’s a win-win!

What class will do more for your abs and core than any other on our schedule? BodyFlow!

Lengthen, strengthen, and get great abs in BodyFlow

December is BodyFlow month at BBAC. We want you to experience all the wonderful benefits of this class so that you can love it just as much as we do.

This month, during a few specially selected classes (certain BodyPump, BodyCombat, and BodyVive classes), you’ll get a taste of BodyFlow. But don’t worry — if you show up for a kickbutt BodyCombat, BodyPump, or BodyVive class, you’re still going to get one. We’re just going to tweak the formats a little so you’ll get a little extra bonus BodyFlow thrown in.

What can you expect from BodyFlow? Why do we love it so much? Let us count the ways.

1. It’s one of the best classes ever for helping your body function as a whole. That’s because rather than breaking the body into specific parts to train them, BodyFlow incorporates the total body into many of its movements. This helps with overall strength, flexibility, balance, and athleticism.

Even if you aren’t an “athlete,” this is important so that you can move like the best “you” possible.

2. BodyFlow will improve your range of movement through all your joints.

3. Want core and abs? BodyFlow will make it happen. Love that!

4. The class is proven to help improve cardiovascular functioning and will also burn calories.

5. Because of the mind-body connection, the class helps provide a feeling of mental balance and calm.

6. It also helps improve your physical balance — in fact, there is an entire song to helping with balance.

Look for some changes in our schedule after the New Year so you get more opportunities to try the class and reap its many benefits.
